Shakeout Rides

Join us on one of our two official SBT GRVL Friday Shakeout Rides this year. Rider waivers are mandatory this year, so please RSVP ahead of time with LinkMyRide and skip the line on Friday.

Just us on Friday at 9am at Little Toots Park for our Junior Ride led by Marley Blonsky and the All Bodies on Bikes Crew and CTS. This flat 6.5 mile casual spin along the scenic River Road and Yampa River Core Trail is the perfect opportunity to make new friends, practice riding in a group and open up your legs and adjust to the elevation. Please RSVP and sign the waiver in the link below.

Join us at The Haven in Hayden at 9am as we preview a section of our new 2024 Black Course Route with our partners. This 27 mile gravel ride features 2,500 feet of climbing, several challenging climbs, and both champagne gravel and loose dirt terrain. Please RSVP and sign the waiver in the link below.

Weekend Highlights

  • 1-2pm | Sarah Swallow’s Silly Skills Bike Competition w/ Fjällräven | Yampa Street

    SBT GRVL p/b Wahoo Weekend officially kicks off with fun and games on Thursday with Fjällräven featuring Sarah Swallow Silly Skills Bike Competition.  Join us for fun, games, and guided feats of finesse, such as one foot down and red light green light. Harness your inner child while mastering your handling in the process, and win some Pro level prizes from our friends at Fjällräven.

    2:30-5:30pm | SBT GRVL Pre-Party with Fjällräven & Sarah Swallow | Steamboat Social Club

    Keep the party rolling with Fjällräven and Sarah Swallow as they take over the Steamboat Social Club with cold beverages, local sandwiches, DJ Good Steve, and a Fjällräven gear raffle. The first 100 people to register, will receive a gift from Fjällräven upon arrival. RSVP for the party in the link HERE.


  • 7-9am | Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift Watch Party p/b Strava | Steamboat Social Club

    Watch the Femmes live! There happens to be another bike race in France that we’ll all be watching, so instead of streaming it alone in your room we invite you to join us at Steamboat Social Club for our communal Strava Tour de Femmes Watch Party. Our friends at Strava are providing coffee and pastries and plenty of swag, so spin over in your PJs to cheer on your favorite female riders and teams from around the world.

    Show up to the Femmes Watch Party in your kit and roll right over to Little Toots Park for our Junior Ride led by Marley Blonsky and the All Bodies on Bikes Crew.     9am | SBT GRVL Black Course Recon Shakeout Ride | The Haven: Hayden, CO

    Take a drive outside of town and join us in Hayden as we preview a section of our new 2024 Black Course Route with our partners. This 22 mile gravel ride features 2,200 feet of climbing, several challenging climbs, and both champagne gravel and loose dirt terrain. Route and RSVP coming soon.

    11am-12pm and 2-3pm | Wahoo Dunk Tank | Corner of Yampa and 10th

    Dunk a Wahooligan! Test your throwing accuracy and send your favorite Wahoo plunging to their fate in a chilly water tank. For their sake, here's hoping it’s a warm day. 

    12-5pm |SBT GRVL p/b Wahoo Expo | Yampa Street

    Our sold out Expo returns to Yampa street and Downtown Steamboat Springs. Featuring over 78 vendors and packed with activities for the whole family, you’ll want to plan plenty of time to interact with your favorite local businesses and cycling industry leaders. 

     1pm | Shakeout Run with Des Linden | Little Toots Park

    Join us for our first ever Steamboat Shakeout Run with Boston Marathon Champ, 2x US Olympian and friend of SBT GRVL, Des Linden, for a 4.5 mile jog around the trails at the base of Emerald Mountain. Strava ROUTE.

    1:30pm | Race Day Tubeless Repair Tech | XPLR Outpost at The Westerly

    Knowledge is power! Refresh your race day tubeless repair skills or learn for the first time with SRAM race technician and prevent a DNF on race day.

    3-5pm | SRAM/ZIPP Athlete Meetup & Social | SRAM Expo Booth

    Socialize before the Canyon HLL CLMB with your favorite SRAM athletes, pick their brains for Pro tips prior to race day, or meet up for your friends and mingle before making your donning your costume and heading to Howelsen Hill. 

    4 pm | Wahoo Ice Cream Social w/ Ian Boswell | Wahoo Expo Booth

    Cool down with your favorite sweet cool treat as Ian hands out ice cream and inspiration to all attendees at the Wahoo Expo Booth. Need help loading the new routes on your ELEMNT ROAM? This is the perfect opportunity for last minute Wahoo tech tips so you can chill out and enjoy your weekend. Head directly from ice cream to Wahoo’s HCKLR HLL fire up your cow bells and get ready to cheer on the Canyon HLL CLMB in typical Wahooligan fashion.

    4pm | Pre-race Pep Talk with Colby Pearce & Dr. Meg Fisher | POC Trailer at 10th & Yampa

    Come calm your nerves at the POC trailer at a pre-race chat with 14x US National Track Champion Colby Pearce and Gold Medalist and decorated Paralympic Cyclist Dr. Meg Fisher.


     

    5:30pm | Canyon Costume HLL CLMB | Howelsen Hill

    Style points count as much as speed as we once again return to the ski slopes for our spectator friendly ascent up Blackmere. Shorter than last year, this lung and leg buster benefits the nonprofit The Cycle Effect, so you can know you’re suffering for a great cause. Limited spots remain. Did we mention the winners in their categories win their weight in beverages from our friends at Left Hand Brewing?

    Stay in costume and stick around for an afterparty with Canyon immediately following the HLL CLMB. Enjoy cold beverages and stories slope-side with new friends and Canyon Pros .

    Join us for an evening at the movies and meet creative minds behind them as we feature short films: The Right To Joy, Finish, and Protect Our Winters’, Usufruct, featuring a post film panel and athlete Q&A with Christopher Blevins, Matt Lieto, Barry Wicks, and Anna Yamauchi, as well as our own 2024 SBT GRVL documentary The Meaning of Ride.   • 7-9am | Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift Watch p/b SRAM | Steamboat Social Club

    Join us for coffee and pastries with our friends at SRAM and cheer on the Femmes live as they finish their second-to-last day of the Tour and win swag from our friends at SRAM, Zwift and Chamois Butt’r. 

    9-11am | Chamois Butt’r Breakfast Bash | Little Toots Park

    The iconic SBT GRVL bike meetup returns as we pack the park on Saturday morning. Join us for breakfast in the park served by your favorite Pro, coffee, tons of SBT GRVL x Butt’r limited edition merch like bottles, socks, and samples as well as a dog meetup and pet portraits hosted by Alexey Vermuelen and four legged legend Sir Willie the Weiner. Stick around for games, raffle prizes and more!

    Join us for day two of our sold out Expo on Yampa street in Downtown Steamboat Springs. Pick up your packet, peruse the adjoining farmers market and socialize thousands of other riders from around the world. Sign Up.  

    9:30am | Alpine Bank Toddler Bike Race | Wahooligan Lot

    The future of GRVL lives here. Cheer on our tiniest participants of the weekend as they navigate an obstacle course and compete for larger than life $2 checks on the small stage. 

    10-10:45am | Maurten Nutritional Panel | Little Toots Park 

    Join Maurten’s top Pros such as Carolin Shiff and Freddy Ovett at Little Toots Park during the Chamois Butt’r Breakfast bash as they dish out fueling strategies and nutrition advice for race day. Ask questions and learn how many carbohydrates per hour you should be consuming so you can time your Maurten aid station stops accordingly and cross the finish line and feeling like a winner. 

    10:45-12pm | Schwalbe Tire Tech and Bike Skills | Little Toots Park

    Join Schwalbe, Serena Bishop Gordon of Special Blend Gravel and Schwalbe Pros Rob Britton and Caroline Dezendorf at Little Toots Park as they dissect their recent course recon and discuss the optimal tire setup for race day; from tread patterns, to proper pressure, and ways to improve traction techniques when things get loose. Bring your bike and roll across the bridge to Howelsen following the Tech Talk for a Schwalbe obstacle course to test and improve your handling skills, dial in your tire setup for race day, and win prizes in the process.

    11am-12pm | Yoga w/ Old Town Hot Springs | Little Toots Park

    Join us for a free community yoga session on the grass in Little Toots Park. Practice your downward facing dog, limber up, and unwind your mind before the big event with our friends at Old Town Hot Springs.

    11am- 12pm | Wahoo Dunk Tank | Yampa and 10th

    Miss your shot on Friday? Day two of the Wahoo dunk tank returns. Douse your favorite Wahooligans in this comically competitive game of carnival skill.  

    11:30am-12:30pm | Spectate Pete Stetina’s Bike build w/ Big Tall Wayne | Canyon Expo Booth

    What sets the Pro’s bikes apart? Get a glimpse behind the curtain as Pete Stetina’s Pro Mechanic Big Tall Wayne takes your questions and dishes advice as he preps Pete’s Canyon Grail for race day. 

    12pm | Quad Lock Giveaway | Quad Lock Expo Booth

    Join our friends at Quad Lock and Quad Lock Pros for a free product giveaway. Quad Lock will be handing out hundreds of dollars in products to all in attendance, so ditch your old phone case, arrive early, and get ready to lock in some prizes.

    Join local artist Lance Whitner for a signing of her signature SBT GRVL artwork as well as our new 2024 edition BOCO hats and posters.

    12:30-1pm | Ride For Racial Justice Panel | Wahooligan Lot

    Join our 2024 Ride For Racial Justice cohort and alumni as they take to the stage for an engaging discussion on diversity and inclusion within our sport and how we can all work to dismantle systemic racism so that we all feel empowered to ride and enjoy the freedom of cycling.

    1:15pm | Pro Ride Panel | Wahooligan Lot

    A highlight of every GRVL event, watch your favorite GRVL athletes compete for the title of Pro Panel Champ as they partake in trivia, spectator friendly shenanigans, and answer your burning questions on stage.

    Take your best shot and enjoy a last chance to dunk your favorite Wahooligan.
